The existing brand design had become somewhat dated and no longer effectively communicated the lasting positive changes that Paradox provides to their clients’ organizations. They were looking for something more flexible and striking that would resonant with their target audience.

The professional consulting brand design journey began when Paradox partnered with Noel & Co, a marketing consultancy based in Raleigh led by Christina Noel. After completing the foundational brand strategy work, Christina recommended Parson Lane to evolve the visual identity.

Having collaborated with Christina on numerous client projects in the past, I was brought in to translate the strategic foundation into a cohesive visual identity system. This partnership between strategy and design ensured that every visual element would authentically represent Paradox’s mission and approach.

Before exploring design directions, I immersed myself in understanding what makes Paradox unique in the consulting landscape. Their work focuses on helping organizations in the Triangle region thrive by facilitating game-changing organization and people solutions. Through their consulting work, they ensure that opportunities to fully participate in the region’s growth are extended to everyone.

This understanding of their mission informed every aspect of the professional consulting brand design that followed.

Creating a visual identity that reflects modern consulting expertise

The previous Paradox identity used muted navy and gray tones in a conventional horizontal format that limited flexibility and appeared dated. For the refreshed professional consulting brand design, we modernized while maintaining recognition.

The new logo updates the overall design to create an impression that is brighter, more modern, and more professional. We widened the shape of the arrow to match the angles that naturally occur in the typography, creating a pleasing symmetry and gently leading the viewer’s eye. This subtle change also suggests a more open and welcoming atmosphere, aligning with the firm’s values.

We brightened the color palette while maintaining the core blue and orange identity, adding complementary secondary colors to create a more versatile system. The typography selection balanced professionalism with approachability, perfect for a consultancy that works with established organizations while bringing fresh perspectives.

Translating strategy into a complete professional consulting brand design system

The brand design process extended beyond just creating a logo. We developed a comprehensive visual system that could be applied consistently across all touchpoints including business cards, digital presence, conference materials, pop-up signage, sales sheets, and more.

For photography guidelines, we recommended images featuring natural lighting and cool tones to complement the blue hues in the color palette. When showing people, we emphasized selecting photography that represents diverse groups in professional settings, reinforcing the inclusive nature of their work.
